    Hi All,

I've been working on an Alpine setting for the Unity editor. This is my first time using Unity.
Everything is quite low-poly. The trees are around 400 polygons each using the built-in custom tree placement tool. Ground textures are 1024x1024 and grass textures around 512x512.

Still have a lot more to do. Rocks, logs, new tree types and grasses and a new skybox.
    Feedback is most welcome!

You should definitely check Unity's Image Effects (ie. SSAO) if you haven't already everything just seems so bright! If you have then disregard this post. :p

Looking good! A few more suggestions, rocks /which you may be working on now/, and some more brown color, its a bit over saturated with green which is what alpine forests mostly are but for example this photo. Try to blend some more nice darker browns and greys into the scene.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I've added some basic rocks and add some mossy logs and maybe some old stone wall debris.
New trees to add soon and snow variations to go.

Had a bit of trouble getting the browner grass to look nice, might try a new texture instead of a variation.

I've updated the trees and added some saplings. Created a new terrain height-map from hand and updated some textures.
    Added snow ground textures.
    Still to add:
    - Alpine Skybox
    - New tree varieties with snow
    - New Grass varieties
    - Wall props
    - Rock props
    - Log props

Haven't had much time to work on this lately. Just added an alpine skybox which I'm still working on. Updated the lighting and fog settings also to match.

    Image attached!

Looking pretty good! :) The trees still need a bit of work in my opinion, they somehow look a bit "squashed", or too short in relation to the trunk width. Don't be afraid to make spruce trees really tall and thin, sharp cone-shaped like for example in this pic: https://ramblinroseaz.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/north-to-alaska-098.jpg

Are you using a terrain generator for your terrain, or is it sculpted in Unity?

I used a painted heightmap for the terrain, I tried generating it but I found it easier for the test scene to just hieghmap and mould it in unity. Thanks for the feedback Mliukka, I agree about the trees, I'm going to make some more variants so I'll fix them up in the process. I'm looking to add uber-shader and ASF too.

    Still working on this.

    - Added PBR Terrain texture support for RTP 3.2 (Relief Terrain Pack)
    - Added PBR UBER Shader support for buildings and tree trunks
    - A few screenshots with the new shaders.

    alpine-forestWIP--31.jpg
RTP Height-blending between textures creates the illusion of moss and pine needles in the cracks of the cobble-stones.

    alpine-forestWIP--32.jpg
RTP POM and Height-blending with snow, grass and rock.

    Happy New Year!
