    Hey all,

I'm having an issue in my early access title (built using 2018.4.23f1) where audio randomly cuts out across the entire game after a decent amount of time. We've had users report it happening 3 hours into a game, 1 hour into a game and most recently after 15 minutes. We have not been able to reproduce this in-house, but we do have a video of it happening to a user. There is no specific action that the user does to trigger this. We've seen users report it while standing still, playing normally or performing in-game actions.

As soon as a level is loaded (the level is restarted, or the user exits out to the main menu and reenters the game), the audio all goes back to normal and plays as intended. Strangely, this isn't specifically a background loop or specific SFX; this is all audio across the entire game. It is not tied to any of our options menus (our users have confirmed this by messing with our master volume sliders after it occurs and hearing no difference).

We have appropriate volumes and priorities assigned to all of our SFX, so even if we were exceeding the virtual voices limit (which I don't believe we are), I would expect the loudest, highest priority sounds to still come through. Unfortunately, that doesn't appear to be the case.

As I said, this is happening in a live game with active users, so any ideas for quick fixes would be appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

It's difficult to diagnose this problem from the info given.
Are you using audio mixers? If so I would check what is happening with any master volume automation during the game that might be being reset when resetting a level.
Also are all your sounds 3D? If so is the listener somehow being moved extremely far from the scene and the volumes are cut?

Is there any device change happening for these users, like does it come when they plug in a headphone or something?

    Cheers
    W

We don't use audio mixers. Everything is simple Audio Sources playing AudioClips (some OneShot). Many users have reported this and none have mentioned device issues. They've also all mentioned the sound coming back on its own once the level restarts.

We have some 3D sounds, but most are 2D.

I just ran into something like this today and the reason why I was having issues was because my sound effects audio files were exported with an extra minute or two of time at the end so my max voice limit was being reached without realizing it.

This was consistently happening in the very beginning for me and if your audio cuts are more random than mine it probably isn't the same issue, but thought I'd throw that out there in the off chance it is.

    Best of luck

Sounds like you need to Mute Other Audio Sources = false, in the iOS project settings
