We are a Group right now its not a group considered i had worked alone on this but anyways i would love people to help out with scripting, modeling, animation and more if you want to help out you can add me on Skype - andrew.furlyk and when adding me list me your skills like JavaScript, modeling and so on. right now i am currently working on the GUI its the menus and buttons in the game. and forgot to mention this game is only in multiplayer. and everything like data is going to be stored on a server. but i right now dont have money and anyways that's the complicated stuff that's going to be made later on.

    Sword Art Online anime summary
In the near future, a Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online has been released where players control their avatars with their bodies using a piece of technology called Nerve Gear. One day, players discover they cannot log out, as the game creator is holding them captive unless they reach the 100th floor of the game's tower and defeat the final boss. However, if they die in the game, they die in real life. Their struggle for survival starts now...

Nice menu. Though using the name Sword Art Online isn't legal without a license. And I've seen ~3 or so of these being made now, and none have gotten far.

yeah over the last year or so looking in these forums I've seen at least 3-4 of these. it isn't legal to do anything like this like you could re name it and say the series itself inspired you to make a mmo

the thing is all these groups that try to make sao they are mostly going to fail. there is one group that is using cry engine 3 and in that engine you canot export the game in any ways and Right away fail and my game that i am recreating is going to be made if some company makes this game so what i will still continue making it and also some one said that my menu looks good and my game would look good

    wow, zero punctuation...
You know the main reason why everyone fails is that legally you are not allowed to make a game set in the SAO universe or which uses SAO trademark material, no matter if it will be free or not.

You need clearance from the rich guys that own the LP and in most cases these rich companies don't handle the rights just like that..

were just saying that its not such a great ideea since there are 2-3 maybe more ppl out there that are already working on this and they have more stuff made so lets say they release it and after 2-3 months you release yours, youre gonna be shadowed by the first release and maybe get called a copy. And even IF that doesn't happen and you release your game (witch is unlikeli due to copirights and so on) youre still not gonna be just another Sao MMO. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, i'm just pinpointing the fact that its not the greatest idea ever and its not original.

Such a lack of proper English grammar. I fear for the future hope of humanity. And this project will probably fail just like others regardless of the illegal use of IP.

a couple things i have to say i don't care that there are other groups making the game and have more resources then me but i want to do this and make it, i am not going to give up because there is another groups and because of copyright if there where copyrights for the game wile there is not because there is no game out yet i don't give s S***. and at the end of the day the game i am making is INSPIRED BY SWORD ART ONLINE. :)

Bro, its literally called Sword Art Online. The minute the creators see this theyll request you shut it down. If you have something good coming along, rename it effective immeadiately. They own the rights to the name...

Also, I can assure you, you will let copyright stop you. Unless of course you want to go to court.

If you really really really must keep it going with the current name I guess you may be able to make it open source ?? But that means allowing people to download the whole game project and what have you and Im not sure its even allowed with Unity as Unity isnt open sourced.

I would recommend against it. Most of us could make faster and better solo progress towards an MMO than that group can.

You are right. The companies that invest millions of dollars and have dozens of people working on MMORPGs are idiots. They didn't discovered the secret power of ONE man ONE Unity.

    People are so naive...
Just call it a hobby project and be fair with yourself. No one can make a mmorpg alone. If you still think otherwise, you are free to show me at least one that is completed and functional.

And just out of curiosity, do you have anything else besides the main menu? Because, you know, the hard part is actually the authoritative server.

No only that. Even if you do manage to complete it, there is no way you can compete with existing MMO's. The market is saturated and unless you bring something new to the genre, noone will even notice your project.

MMO's require constant maintenance, supervision and updates. That alone is a job big enough for a few people.

It is very much true. I was just trying to make him envision the next step and assess correctly how difficult it is. It's no point thinking further than that since ironically the hard part starts after you create a mmo.. :)

Shall I quote that character from Pulp Fiction and his demand for proper English grammar? Failure is an option.

Your entire UI is copyrighted. You may need to change it.

This is why you see so many dudes steal IP copyright. Most well put together WIP threads don't get as much attention as this one sadly and many contain way more content to show

Not sure why everyone keeps trying to copy SAO so badly. The MMO itself would be very basic and nothing like Sword Art unless you embraced Oculus Rift technology for a VR experience. Beyond that, the main hero in "SAO Anime" is your generic, bland anime character that is shy of women and yet- somehow this noob has every woman in the show in love with him. Now, I admit the Anime itself is quite good (at least the 1st 12 episodes) but after that it trails off. Funny thing is the actual web novel SAO Anime is based on is wayyy more mature and the main hero is much more interesting and non-generic

So what is the plan for this dream MMO in your head? Everyone will just run around with Sword & Board right? Because recall there is no magic in Aincrad.

The Anime was cool cause you see health bars floating over people's heads etc. But in a game this is quite typical. I just don't see the allure to an SAO MMO. If you are really serious I'd consider joining Age of Aincrad maybe. But yeah, you could focus on just making an RPG with no magic. Everyone just fights with Swords and beast (pets). I dont recall seeing archers in SAO either. As a normal deathmatch game that would be fun- not having to deal with ranged attacks. It would actually be a lot more skilled than the average FPS. Guess you're getting into Chivalry Online terrority there though
