    -Bone spatula shovel
    -Stone axe
    -Stone spear

You do realize that eventually you're going to have to make an expansion pack with dinosaurs, right? ;)

Haha, there will probably not be any dinosaurs in this game, but we will keep adding more animals and stuff to do after the game is released : )
Trying to keep decently true to the games setting.

    That's why I said "expansion pack" ;)

I have to say I'm throwing around ideas for a caveman game too. Though I'm still learning the engine.

This is a pretty interesting concept. And the bestiary's a nice selection as well. Of course, I hope you don't mind if I could make a suggestion to go with them.

Anyways, I can't wait to see more updates to this.

Well, one of the animals I was hoping to encounter would be Homotherium latidens, also known as the Scimitar-toothed Cat.

Basically, a type of Machairodont (Saber-tooth) Felid that lived in the Americas, Africa, and Eurasia. Fortunately, Homotherium survived in Europe up until 30,000 years ago, and presumably even later based off a carving.

I felt as if it would be necessary, as people would probably wonder about Saber-tooth cats in the future.

Since it seems to fit both the geographical area and the time period its a very good candidate to be in the game : )
For some reason i seem to have missed this one when doing my research : p
Will add it to the list, thanx.

While we're at it, I have a nice suggestion for a creature too which I haven't seen in games yet: the Komodo Dragon

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Komodo_dragon

wiki says they have been living for over 900.000 years on one of the indonesian islands. As far as I understand, they mostly hunt deer and are generally peaceful towards humans, unless you provoke them of course. Though their behaviour can be quite unpredictable (and sometimes agressive)

I DO have something else to say, mostly regarding the mammoth...

For starters, the tusks might need to be a bit thicker, and more curved, like this. In life, the tusks alo helped sweep snow out of the way to get access to fresh grass underneath. Another thing is that it might be the fur, but if I remember correctly, Mammoth had a tip on the end of their trunk similar to an Asiatic Elephant. For fur color, genetics revealed they could range from blond to dark brown.

    Hope this helps.

EDIT: Turns out, after looking at frozen remains of a calf, Mammoth had two tips on the end of their trunk, like an African Elephant.

I love the concept. Let me get this straight though, we'll be able to manage villages?

So, we can manage the population, assign hunters, create soldiers, etc? How would it work in this time period, though? Will there be other villages that will become hostile towards you? Will hunting animals give you not only food, but skin to make more clothing?

Wonderful concept though. I want to see some beautiful gameplay for it <3

ALSO: you should start up a Kickstart campaign. I'd donate.

Pangea: There will be some randomization to all animals, things like fur color, size and stats will be different for every animal to give the game i little extra life and variety : )

EverHeartGames: Kickstarter is something i have thought about but its not on my radar atm, need something a bit more playable first and also progress is good right now anyway, but maybe later : )
There will be limited population managing maynly consisting in building houses to recruit NPCs that then can be ordered to do some tasks like chopping trees, gathering and hunting. Other villages is something i have thought about and might come later but not on the list atm. Hunting will give you all sorts of materials like meat, bone, antlers, hides and sinews that can be used for food, tools and clothing.

Gameplay will come as soon as i have enough to show : )

Also, we could still use some help in the animal modeling and animal/human animation department so feel free to send me a pm if you want to help out : )

It looks amazing. Maybe you should do a weekly diary for the game? Something to keep people interested and hungry for more content.

It's also nice to know there's gonna be variants of the animals in the game too.

    Teaser time!

Working on dynamic season changes at the moment.
As you can see, trees will change color gradually, snow will start to fall, then build up for real as you can see if you compare the Early Winter and Winter screen. In the spring the snow will melt and trees and grass will be spring green : )
No changes are instant, it all happens slowly overtime.
Still WIP, grass coloring and lots of small tweaks and stuff still needs to be done. Will post a time-laps video when im happy with the results.

Graphics is of course largely placeholders for now : p
But the system is made that way so it does not really care what trees there are so they are easy to replace when all the basic functionality is in place.

Are you using drawmesh for the leaves? Or just a bunch of separate prefabs?

The winter scene is great. Got one for evening, with the fire lit?

    hi virror,

have you already had a look at my free "ats snow suite" on the asset store?
it lets you add procedurally generated snow on:
    - terrains
    - trees
    - grass
    - any other game object.

it should not be a big problem to add
    - a tint color (for autumn colored leaves)
    - a dynamic alpha cut off in order to create "growing" leaves and grass
    like: http://www.crydev.net/newspage.php?news=91597

larsbertram1: That's what im currently are using as a base for my snow shader : )
Removed some stuff that i font use like height calculation and added in the extra vertex shader stuff that allows for the snow buildup.
The alpha cutoff is one of the things i have planed on implementing before i make a video.
I have not decided on what grass solution i will use yet so i will leave that out for the moment and just tweak the grass texture with the seasons but i guess the same alpha trick can be used on the grass regardless of grass system.
