alexzzzz: Built in terrain is ok, not that hard to modify terrain in real time, will probably use that still, but have a premade tool for making the procedural terrain and stitching and stuff.

    I feel your pain virror.
What the terrain engine can give me up until now has been a cake. No icing, just bread. So I guess it's...adequate?
As soon as I learn more about shaders (more being more than zip), I've got some ideas that hopefully can give me some much better looking stuff.

But...at this point, all it is is cosmetics...the terrain data is there, and being sent to the client. I'm focusing on underlying core essentials.

Yes, terrain is a pain to do. I'm still considering a voxel based solution for my game, but it just takes so much time developing such a thing :( (especially since I don't have that much experience programming )

    Good luck on yours!

Shouldn't the tents be bigger? Or are they that small or trees that big back then? Anyways it's looking awesome and would love to be a beta tester :p

Just want to write a few lines on what im currently working on.
In AoS there will be more to to look out for than just wild animals to stay alive, you also need to eat, drink and stay warm during the cold winter.

    Health
Pretty straight forward, if your health drops to zero, you die. There will be a very small base regeneration of health and eating and applying healing items like herbs with healing properties will increase this during a certain time period.

    Hunger
As in real life you need to eat to stay alive, you will never die directly from food shortage, but instead you will get a steady health degeneration below a certain value because you are getting weaker from not eating. Hunger bar will have a steady fixed decrease.

    Thirst
This works the same as hunger, drinking from a lake or another water source will make you less thirsty.

    Temperature
This one is a bit special. There will be a fixed base temperature based on the season, so in the summer it might be 25 C. This can then be modified by different means like being close to a fire or equipping some warm cloths. Having to low temperature will have a bigger decrease in health than hunger and thirst. Also having a to high value will impact your thirst meter making it decrease faster, but there is no health penalty for getting to warm. Make sure you are prepared when winter is coming! ; )

I really like the idea of temperature having an effect on your hunger/thirst rate, definitely adds a neat element to the game.

What would be pretty neat is if you could somehow measure the sunlight falling on the character...if he were in shade, it would actually be a little cooler. But that might be getting a bit too fancy :)

Maybe that could be achieved with a raycast from the sun(light) towards random point of the player body(head, legs, arms), to check if there's something in between(shadow caster)

Its a cool idea! Maybe i add something like that later : p
Right now i think its enough that the distance to the fire affects your temperature ; )

I know i promised a new wip, problem is that im waiting for new Unistorm and it got delayed a lot. Now its out but seems like it has a few bugs so i have to wait a bit longer. Good thing is that i have worked on some other stuff instead so once the new wip is done it will be very good : p
Things i have been working on lately is dialog system, tutorial scene and animal ai + loot system, so next demo will have a lot of new things to play with : )

This is going to be great with all those animals inside i have been thinking about similar concept too but the main problem is that it is really hard to find plenty things to do in that era if you know what i mean, it just isnt really a lot that you can implement besides hunting for food, gonna wait and see how this turns out, i am just curios is this going to be more of RTS or RPG? From description it isnt quite clear, well any way if it is either of those genres it would work well.

Its going to be kind of a rpg/rts hybrid, but more to the rpg side.
Kind of a first person age of empires rpg with minecraft/wurm influences. Kind of : p

    Hey!
Things are going kind of slow atm, but still working : )
Still doing some work on the animals/behaviors/looting stuff.
The things i want to finish before releasing a new WIP demo is the above stuff + integrate the new Unistorm, just have to wait for the new patch there to fix some issues, also want to try out proWorld but thats not as important.
After the new wip i will start work on the NPC stuff, which will probably take a lot of time.

Any good organics modeler reading this that needs some work? : D
Could really need help on that part.

That's so cool, the bit about hunger thirst. I have that in my WIP as well. Mine also gets tired and need to sleep. I'm almost starting to think of my WIP as The Sims in the Wasteland. :D But I just wanted to shout out that it's a neat idea. It's good to see that more people have considered that.

Just want to drop by here and say this is still being worked on : )
About that WIP i promised.... Waiting for ProWorld 1.1 to be released so i can integrate that before releasing something new.
Currently reworking the inventory/item system, lots of improvements as unlimited containers open at same time and nice drag and drop between them.
Also making item tool integration into Unity to quickly make new items.

Nice!! I like the idea of the game! the Concept artwork of the Character looks bad ass! = ) This game sort of reminds me the game Savage alittle, which was an awesome multiplayer only game. I'm guess this will be single player? either way looks, sounds great!

Well, there is not much to show at the moment because i lack an artist to make the concept into reality : /
Almost everything thats made on this project so far is in code form.

This is a game I would play. The concept looks good. I especially like the setting you've chosen!

I'm a little confused on what the gameplay will consist of though. Will the player control a single person or will he/she be managing a civilization (Age of Empires comes to mind) or will it be a cross between the two?

The game is played in first person, and the focus will be exploration and building/expanding your village. Villagers will be able to help you take down the bigger prey and also help gather the basic resources like stone and lumber.

Just adding my support, looks like a ripper concept!

I am sure there are artists out there that would be keen to help out! How far off a proof of concept demo are you? If you can get something like that (even just with placeholders) you might be able to attract some more people !

    Don't let it die!

Started working a bit on this again after some time away from it.
Currently working on a smaller game demo with focus on networking and animations to learn a bit about that : )
Also doing some experiments with 3d interfaces and the Oculus Rift support (though i have not ordered a devkit : p)
Hopefully i have something to show soon.
Biggest problem atm is the lack of a dedicated modeler to help with the quite unique assets needed for this game : /

Just a small image showing that the project is still alive.
Working towards a new small demo with multiplayer support and some other small nice features.
This image shows an early test with some new plant assets that MadBlade2 was kind enough to make to add to the variation, they will not live on the sand when added properly : )

Edit: This forum really sucks with attachments, try clearing the cache if you cant see the image.

Looking for a talented concept artist to help me flesh out some more details for this game!
See first post for some of the current concept art, important is that you can come up with your own ideas as well and not only work from strict orders : p
