i updated my windows 8.1 with some "critical update" maybe 6 hours ago. i get back to my computer and attempt to go from where i left off. now when i try to use a collider gravity doesn't work. (sprite free-fall) rigidbodys have gravity, but they don't like the floor and go right through it.

    not using character controllers.

to test it i used a prototype sprite with a box collider for the floor, and an empty game object with a sprite renderer and a rigid body/box collider. ive witnessed both fail.

tried redownloading unity, tried restoring windows to a previous state.
i have no idea what to do next.

Could you upload an example project to share here?

i fixed it. apparently another collider is needed on the rigidbody to function correctly. noob mistake?

A rigidbody only causes the object to have physics, a collider is needed to give that object some physical shape. But if you're saying two actual colliders, then that's not correct... should only need 1.
