I read countless post about low eCPM, low revenues generated by Unity Ads or other networks.
The article is not from me but in case it helps people understand what is going on I will leave it here.

Good luck with your games :)

    Hello,

Thanks for sharing a nice article about revenues from ads.

For Indie developers i think its a win - win situation, since its hard to develop and market a successful freemium or paid game with little sources. Also big companies uses ad networks + freemium content, so it must be a good deal.

Ad Networks should cut their hard work from your revenue to feed hard working people, making better ad agreements, maintaining SDK's, public relations etc. etc. Its business, and i don't think these cuts are random numbers, it must be calculated precisely.

    Regards,

    Good summary.

Regarding the section "Multiple hops means each middle-man takes a cut":
It's worth noting that Unity Ads handles 100% of its own ad inventory, so there's no middle-men sharing in your Unity Ads revenue.

More information on Unity Ads monetization can be found in our [monetization FAQ](http://unityads.unity3d.com/help/faq/monetization).

Nice Article! Although the first point about CPM being 'Cost per mile' is not correct. It's 'Cost per mille' (latin for Thousand - also the roman numeral M). It has nothing to do with miles as a unit of distance.

It's also worth noting that the 'e' stands for 'effective'. Basically it's looking at the amount you got and how many impressions - so it's the result, rather than a promise to pay a specific amount.

good article, but the "Rev-share in most mobile ad networks is driven by app installs" confused me.

what is the purpose of CPM/eCPM method then?
is that mean the CPM system is not working?
