Additively loaded scene with baked lighting looks totally blown out

I am loading in a scene that currently is only static geometry with baked lighting. When viewing the scene on its own, it looks correct, but when I additively load it into my main scene, the geometry appears totally blown out, as if the exposure was super high. I took almost everything out of the additive scene to try and pinpoint what the causes was and its now just down to a very simple rotunda room with a big disc-shaped area light near the ceiling. I also tried a variation with a baked point light instead.

Totally confused... are there any obvious things I should check to try and see why this is happening?
