I have been developing Aakrana for over 15 years. In the past 6 years I have been developing in Unity. We have in the last few months closed off most of the critical work streams in the project and are currently in closed alpha testing. Interested in any feedback or opportunities to collaborate. Can't build a sustainable MMO by yourself. ;) Thanks in advance

    Project Status:
    - Server backend technology - 100% completed
    - Client technology - 100% completed
    - Patching tools - 100% completed

We are currently working on content and actual game design elements of the MMO. Skill balancing, Ability balancing, professions and just general content. We have well over 2000 items in the game so far with 300+ skills and abilities. Watch the Youtube vids for more details.

    Initial Concepts:

    • Fantasy world of moderate magic and creatures
    • Sandbox world that allows players to choose skill trees and develop their character as they wish. (no predefined classes)
    • Zone based world to control player population and performance
      • Currently tested with over 500 ccu per zone.
      • Targeting 100 ccu per zone.
    • Dynamic world AI. NPC/MOB factions dynamically vie for control of various points of interest within the game with real consequences.
    • Stretch concept: Player creatable "modules"/quests (think D&D modules) that are basically player created instances with story lines and quests. These modules will be part of a library of quests that players can run (think dungeons in World of Warcraft), rate and donate to the creator.
    • Custom guild and monarchy system allowing players to build their followers and rewarding guilds based on their impact in the game world.
    • Player built towns and kingdoms. Guilds and players can purchase plots and build core services evolving them into towns and villages.

    Team Structure:

    • Mark MacPherson - Founder and Owner of FBN Studios and Lead Designer
    • I bring over a decade of multi-million-dollar project management, team leader ship and system integration to the team. I have been pursing game development for over fifteen years and had the pleasure to work as a key consultant on some early triple A MMOs in the industry.
    Mark's current skillsets include:

    • Torque, Unity 3D, C++ development
    • C# scripting
    • DB management and interface scripting
    • Server configuration and management
    • Project management
    • Marketing
    • Business administration and management

    Currently Seeking:

Are you passionate about game development? Are you looking to refine your skills in an actual team environment? Get in touch!

    • World Builder – Do you have skills to bring worlds to life inside Unity? Can you balance beautiful environments with CPU/GPU controls that would be viable for a massively multiplayer world? We would like to hear from someone that has these skills and can demonstrate level optimization, LoD and occlusion techniques within the Unity toolsets. Our existing tools include, Gaia, Enviro, CTS and the nature manufacture suites.
    • 3D Modeler – Are you interested in seeing your fantasy-based models in a working MMO? Are you able to produce high quality, optimized game ready assets? We are always on the lookout for someone with these talents. If you can demonstrate a solid use of these skills with LoD and high-quality skinning get in touch!
    • UMA Modeler – Are you a wizard when it comes to all things UMA? Want to be a part of a project that currently has over 1500 UMA recipes and objects? If you have intermediate to senior UMA skills and that is something you want to expand on, get in touch!
    • Senior C#/Unity Programmer – Our current codebase is very feature complete but we are looking for someone with a passion for MMO gaming who can optimize and debug Intermediate to expert level C#. Most of our foundational code and logic is completed but parts could benefit from a solid optimization.
    Funding and Compensation Model:

Aakrana is managed as a project with each piece of work that is done tracked via project management software. Each piece of work completed is approved for an agreed amount of hours and those hours provide financial entitlement to compensation when the project becomes solvent and sustainable. Contact for more details.

    • Self funded.
    • Volunteer collaboration with core work being assigned hourly contributions.
    • Contribution hours to be paid out post release in phases as the corporation becomes self sufficient financially.
    Team Fit and Culture:

    • Being respectful of all team members at all times
    • Willing to take part in the unpaid development cycle for the experience of developing in a team environment and showcasing your works.
    • Be respectful of schedules and engage team members in meaningful conversations. Avoid continuously disrupting other team members for idle chatter.
    • Be capable of using the project tools required for collaboration and communication. Current tools include but are not limited to:
      • Unity 3D
      • App dev repositories
      • Discord
      • Hacknplan
Please Note: As much as we can all get excited about discussing our next great idea for an MMO, it is important to understand that people have other work (hopefully paid) and families and things going on in their life. As much as we all like to talk about the things we are passionate about, talking about dreams doesn't bring them any closer to reality. Team members are expected to deliver tasks and show tangible progress in their areas of contributions.
