a question that nobody answers :(

    Hello! I am studying IT languages and have a project to develop a train simulator, but for some reasons this mechanism has many problems for the open or very big world. The solution in the prototype I made a few months ago was to create a manual of floating origin, since the mechanism does not have this function implemented natively, unlike Unreal. The solution would be if the unit implemented a feature that moves everything automatically, but as it is not just improvisation. Unreal would be the solution for me, but I found the language more complex, because I am a beginner and I don't know how to handle the current language very well. Stopping running, I'd like to know how much the source code costs so I can develop something to solve this, since Unity doesn't seem to care about that. Maybe DOTS will solve this, but it's still too immature for production. Please, someone tell me how much the source code costs! Don't say "send them an email" because they won't reply. Sorry about the English because I used the Google translator.

    Nobody answers because nobody knows the answer. I doubt there is a single answer. It probably depends on things like:
    • Your organization size
    • Your purpose for wanting the code
    • How much Unity trusts you and the IP laws of country you live in to protect their intellectual property.

    If you're just a beginner, I'm going to just say right now source code access is probably out of your price range. Rumors I've seen are that source access costs somewhere in the high 5 to low six-figure range (something like $50,000 - $200,000). It's a thing targeted towards organizations that have some compelling interest in customizing the engine.

    You're probably better off just learning Unreal if they have builtin floating origin and scripting solutions won't work for you.

    I don't think so, but I prefer someone in high office to talk about it. It is sad that Unity is closed source, it just loses with that.

    Asking this same question over and over won't help if you ignore everyone's answers. What was wrong with the floating origin code I wrote for you in your last thread? How many times do you need to be told source code access is going to cost you around 5 figures? At this point, you either have the money ready or you should figure out another way. Nothing you mentioned would need source code access to implement anyway.

    But you've been told all this several times.

    It does not solve anything, it causes the same change of origin.

    A) not a question, just a collections of musings.
    B) source access, as I recall, varies depending on org. When we had it, it was much more than 5 figures.
    C) contact sales for more information.
    D) you don't need source for floating origin, it is a common solution
    E) if you are a beginner, and you can't solve this problem, source code won't be of any use to you.
