A New Community Manager Approaching!

Hi everyone!

I'm Blaine, and I'll be joining you all as a new Community Manager out of the San Francisco Unity office! You may have already seen me pop into a few threads but I realized I haven't introduced myself.

I'm actually going on my third year with Unity! Up until now I was part of the Asset Store team managing most all of the incoming art submissions. If you've been to the past three SF GDC's, or even Unite Seattle back in 2014 you may have run into me around the Asset Store booth.

For some background on myself, most of my time is split between playing games and making art for some personal projects or small games with my friends. I'll probably try to jump into the WIP thread here to share when I finish some new assets. I play way to much Super Smash Brothers Melee so if you're a fan say hi. Also, cats are great.

I look forward to getting to know you all!

Good luck with the job and one thing I ask as much as I do the others, please actually try to be active in the community.
It's always nice to have the CM actually do something and relate with us. Not only is it nice, it's the professional thing to do,
being you are the CM. @Aurore actually did this great, so hope you can do it on her level and be an active part of this community instead of hiding like the rest have done.

This is something that all of the community team has been working on for a while now. I'm sure we can find a solution that leaves everyone happy though!

 

@BlainePascu : Why not make a custom tailored completely original forum that you guys create. That way it's exactly the way you want. The last forum was a disaster. I hate to even say that, I've never complained about a forum in my life other than having to register for everything haha.

I know it costs money and time to make one, and quite a bit of it. But I think Unity as a company will feel better its self knowing they own it, made it and makes it another step being unique. Sure there's plenty of OS ones out there, but then you get into the problem I have, translating other peoples code into a format you can read haha.

I hear community manager is a great stepping stone for moving on to other roles within Unity.

 

Falco main reporting in. Had a great time at EVO even though I didn't do too well.

That's odd, because I'm moving from my other role onto this team.

 

Can we welcome ZombieGorilla on board as well as a moderator. I fully expect him to hatefully ban people left right and center - I have popcorn.

Also today was a good day. I bought my first Workstation computer with 2 screens, serious I7 computing power AND reliable access to the internet. I have officially moved out the bedroom and into the office I look forward to being at least 5% more productive

I'm glad to see them bringing on more team members and great community mods, hopefully this trend of investing in the community continues.
