Simply put, yes but it will require some effort, especially if you haven't programmed before. I never had & last year did a course one night a week to learn the basics of programming (c#) & the basics of unity but then spent hours each week watching tutorials, reading forums & gradually making very very simple games. If you've never programmed before don't expect to be making anything to complicated straight away. I still haven't made any games that I have shown anyone that isn't family but I'm now joining in some game jams as I can at least help out with simple stuff, do bits of testing & help debug the simple things.

You can make a game. And you don't really need a book. Just take your time at "Learn" section.

Start by making a paper/card/board game as that will teach you to make the rules simple, clear to understand, & concise. It will also let you work out quickly what bits are fun & should be kept & what buts aren't & should be thrown out. Once you have done that re-write the rules so they only include the bits that are kept, these are basically the rules you need to ensure you code when you start programming it.

Coding rules always takes a while to get right, paper prototyping it where possible will save you a lot of time.

When learning to use Unity, download their free tutorial assets & follow the free tutorial videos. They will step you through the logic of what to do & why you need to do it.

An amateur can make a pretty cheap clone in just a few days. There are decent tutorials in the learn section for this. There are also plenty of Youtubers who put up free tutorials.

There are even some of my complete game tutorials linked via my signature.

Depends what kind of game you want. Most citrus fruits will do the trick for an FPS, but oh boy dont try it with an RTS. We've all made that mistake
