    Hi Game Creators!

We hope you’re finding our Matchmaker product useful in the development of your multiplayer game. Since we launched the solution, we’ve been hard at work creating more tools and features to help you further.

We have the following capabilities now available:
    • Matchmaker A/B Testing - (General Availability)
    • Unity Gaming Services CLI - (Alpha)
    • Unity Gaming Services SDK for Unreal - (Alpha)

We’ve recently launched our Matchmaker A/B Testing capability, this streamlines the workflow for you to test, evaluate and optimize matchmaking rules. You can experiment with different matchmaking configurations, as well as your Game Server Hosting configurations with complete control, without impacting your live game.

In a couple of simple steps on Unity Dashboard, you can configure the match rules you want to test, apply those rules to the Matchmaker and evaluate which have the best impact on your games. The feature is available now, you can discover and get started with Matchmaker A/B testing here.

Along with this we’ve got a couple of new features in alpha that we’d love you to try out.

The Unity Gaming Services (UGS) Command Line Interface (CLI) now supports Unity Matchmaker, allowing you to fetch and deploy matchmaking configuration in json format. By implementing this CLI into your CI/CD workflow, you can implement version control for your matchmaker configuration.

For more information, check out our documentation can be found here.

As well as the CLI, we have the Unity Gaming Services (UGS) SDK for Unreal Engine that is now available. It includes two of Unity’s services built into one plugin, Unity Authentication and Unity Matchmaker.

After you’ve installed and configured the UGS SDK for your Unreal project, you can use C++ or Blueprints for Unity Matchmaker.

An overarching principle of Unity Gaming Services is the ability for the solutions to work with any game engine, not just Unity and with this in mind the UGS SDK integrates with Unreal Engine too.

The UGS SDK has following requirements:
    • Supports Unreal Engine versions 4.22 to 5.0
    • Supports matchmaking players into dedicated servers hosted using Unity Game Server Hosting (Multiplay)

If you’re interested in trying these two features out, please contact me by DM, or email me at gladys.kwok@unity3d.com.

    Thank you,
    Gladys Kwok
