I feel like every Unity update adds something to the Animation Editor, but also takes something away. Are these bugs or by design?

Admittedly, these are minor announces, but across a full day of animating they really add up. I'm struggling to understand if they are slipping through testing or being adjusted by design.

    Updating scene view

    - Select thing you want to adjust e.g. rotate a character's head
    - Rotate it
    - Select somewhere else on the timeline (move the red line), notice that the thing I'm animating doesn't update in Scene View.
    - Select a different location on the timeline, Scene View updates as expected

    - This used to work in earlier versions.

Change animation, doesn't auto-update Scene View with first frame pose

This is useful when comparing the end frame of one animation e.g. RunStart with the first frame of a second e.g. Run.

    Why was this disabled?

Undo / redo preview in scene view

I feel like this one gets fixed and then broken with every dot-release. What is the desired design here? I have to imagine you want to preview after undo/redo. Why does this keep working then breaking?

Select property, select all keyframes for property

    - Select property e.g. Torso.Rotation
    - Only the property is selected, expect all the keyframes to be selected.

Losing this is frustrating because it makes updating the "Curve setting" (Auto, Free Smooth, etc) more tedious. I used to be able to select all the keyframes, right click, choose new setting. Now I have to select all keyframes, right click, choose new setting. Find all "Active / Deactivate" settings and manually drag select all their frames then choosing "Both Tangents > Constant".

It also makes it harder to see all the keyframes associated with a property.

Activate / Deactive can be set to something other than Constant

When would anyone want to do this? Noted above, this makes life more tedious.

Curves view no longer auto-fits or reselects

I use the curves editor a lot, in 5.5 you could click Curves twice (or Curves, Dope, Curves) and the view would auto-fit. This no longer occurs. Now I have to pan the view so I can see the curve of the selected property every time I switch properties.

    Selection of EventAnimation "markers"

Selecting overlapping markers is nearly impossible. I end up having to move them apart then select the one I want, what is the cause of this?

You are right unity updates always give some benefits but also have some drawbacks
