Hey just curious if there were any solid dates on either of those versions. I've supported some of the new API changes but don't want to require users to get the patches to be error free; so I figured I would wait for the next public non-patch version to be public before I submit an update to the Asset Store.

Any soft dates when these are expected to land would help me plan things out and respond to users.

    Thanks

5.4 beta is arguably public in a lot of respects, but the roadmap does aim us for GDC....

The roll up releases are not quite as clearly defined, so I can't offer you a specific point for that.

Yea, I was hoping/expecting it on about the 18th ... being held back on creating a new build to roll out to beta testers until 5.3.2; it's been quite some time since I've been able to send them an update. Due to regressions 5.1.4 was the last version of Unity working for my game, 5.3.1p1 (patch 1) is the first one working since then but am holding out on upgrading our build servers until 5.3.2. Unfortunately it's been 2 months since the game's needed > 5.1 so that means it's been 2 months since I've sent out an update. Ah well, these are my own problems ... just frustrating and I was hoping 5.3.2 would hit around the 18th of January - I'm hoping to tag 5.3.2 as the final Unity version for this game - and the engine version it'll first release with.

Yeah, I guess if you're under extreme time pressure and you know that 5.3.1 patches fix your problem, then right now 5.3.1p3 is the latest one: https://unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases/5.3.1p3

5.3.2 should be some more fixes (5.3.1p4), and an internal QA/testing pass.

May I just ask if it'll be "days" or "weeks" for 5.3.2? Or is this information internal and/or private?

Not private, but predicting the future is hard. For example 5.3.1p4 was supposed to be out yesterday, but some issues were found (it does have a QA pass). Maybe it will ship tomorrow. 5.3.2 should be the same as 5.3.1p4, with some more testing, hopefully released next week.

Looking at current release notes, seems like there's some VSync related performance improvements that happen on some DX11 systems. What kind of perf improvements you're looking for?

Patch releases are typically for "critical fixes that someone needs to have right now", and/or regressions. Large optimizations typically are too invasive/risky for them.

Tried out 5.3.1p4 today, standalone builds of my game lockup-hang all over the place, nothing in the logs, almost like the engine's hitting an infinite loop somewhere. went back to 5.3.1p1 ... giving up on ever getting a stable release of Unity.

Will 5.3.2 fix the "!IsFinite(outDistanceForSort)" errors related to particles and Camera.Render() function (e.g. used in Reflections script for Water4)?

Also when is the release date ?

You need to download 5.3.2patch1 that just came out to fix that I think

5.3.2patch1 still spamming that error , the problem is you cant use Debug.Log proper with this shi.....
the only radical and sure solution atm is turning of particles , a working but mad workaround...

I exclude them from reflections in my case (or rather include only specific items for reflection with layers so particles are excluded indirectly) and thus can limit the error, but of course this is a temporary workaround than a solution

Thanks for leting us know the problem is still there, i just saved hours of downloading on my slow connection

So, looking at the bug, it's a case of projects deleting the UI default shader.
The fix is to check to avoid letting that happen, but you should probably add back the needed shader appropriately.

So, this is wandering off topic of 5.4. Locking.
