5.3 BUG: Rotation on Characters with animator and optimize gameobjects creates translation on mobile

This is a pretty big bug that was introduced in 5.3 or 5.3.1.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Take any character with an animator and controller with optimized game objects.

2. Apply rotation through script.

On CERTAIN mobile platforms (iPhone 4S, HTC One 801e, Sony Xpreia Z5 Compact in our testing) this will cause sinusoidal translations to the character model and skeleton. On other platforms (Asus Z00AD) this does not occur.

This is a pretty serious bug that's become a blocker for us.

Attached is the project demonstrating the issue, using a standard assets model (Ethan).

 

Any feedback on this issue? Is there any more information needed?

Is this fixed in 5.4 along with the Optimize Game Objects scaling bug?
