3dsmax character animation clips not detected [RESOLVED]

    Hi

    Tearing my hair out here.

    I have a single low poly character in 3DSMax Design 2011, the character has a bone rig (dummy objects) and a skin modifier.

    All the bones have had their trajectories baked so they have keyframes.

    The mesh is linked to the root bone

    I export the mesh, bones and extras like eyes and teeth as an FBX and make sure that the following is ticked:

    * Convert Deforming Dummy Objects To Bones
    * Animation
    * Bake Animation (0 to 200 with a step of 1)
    * Deformations, Skins + Morphs
    * Embed Media
    * Y up
    * FBX 2011

    In Unity I select the character and make sure that Animations is ticked, Store in Root is selected, Bake Animations is ticked (this makes no difference ticked or not), Anim Compression off, Split Animations ticked.

    I then add the two animations as

    wave, start=1, end=130, default
    idle, start=140, end=200, Loop

    Click Apply.

    Drop the character into my scene. The starting pose gets set on the character.

    But there are no Animation Clips available on the character. The drop down just has NONE and the wave or idle animation clips do not exist?!?

    To rule out a 3DS Max export issue I re-imported the FBX back into max at the default settings and all the animations are present.

    What could be going wrong?

    Any help would be much appreciated as this is now delaying my project :(

    Hey,

    So I spoke with Anim in the IRC channel about this issue.

    He was using:
    FBX Plug-in version: 2011.1

    Which is currently not supported by 2.6.1

    The solution in this instance was to switch the exporter in Max, to export from an earlier version (this can be chosen from the export dialog)

    Support for the fancy new features that the latest version of FBX from Autodesk has released will be added to 3.0.

    Hello,

    I have a question too but I dont know its the right thread or not, can any one tell me is it possible to import a character into unity when character rigged by biped and not bones? if yes phisique or skin?
