Hi Folks! Cobus has done it again with this latest gaggle of a massive update. *sigh* More work to do. If you are on the fence or have not bought it yet (or any of his packs) what are you waiting for?

Great work Cobus! Great work indeed. Still no idea why these are still Free in lieu of Addon Packs....but....not complaining at all.

Big Thank You to Cobus for being the awesome person and artist he is.

I know it has been a long time but 75%+ of the towns are Exterior and Interior Packs. Castles as well but roughly 25-50%. I have to break up your atlases and convert the models but that is part of having a game like Skyrim...have to do what needs to be done. Pics showing Cobus' excellent meshes are forthcoming for my Showcase Demo in January or February.
(Sorry, I have my own NDA that I have to be careful what is post-able or not)

    Hi,
Just wanted to show how god the Village Exteriors Kit building are looking texture and detail wise against the latest package from @NatureManufacture Meadow Environment - Dynamic Nature
Even very close they are looking very good
I will soon shoe them in full Gaia Built and Meadow Demo scene screenshots

So if you looking for cool environment assets to go with the Buildings or great looking buildings to go with the Environment assets, then you know where to find them :)

    @S4G4N ,

Just wondering if it might be worth you creating an extension for GAIA that recognises when the user has both the Villages Interior and Exteriors Kits and maybe even the Blueprints (by Blueprint) and allows you to cleverly play them to the Terrain.... beyond the current extension?

I have no coding skills, just art.
The POI's (Points of Interests) that comes with Gaia I did the building and making the small payouts, then @AdamGoodrich did his magic to make them placeble with Gaia and GeNa, so I will engage with to see what can be done for sure ;)

I want all my packages to have the widest range of usage. Standalone as is with manual placement and handcrafted results and then with procedural usage wherever can be done. Again to increase usage as much as can and as user friendly as can.

    Hi everyone,

I am excited to share some test screenshots for a Texture Replacement Package for the Village Exteriors Kit
For now just the base texture sheet with some cool new options.

Alone or mixed with the existing ones it will add some great colors and break the normal browns and greys that you normally see.. It will be simple drag and drop the new material onto a prefab, or its parts, so you pick and choose where and what you want to replace. Lots to still add, Lighter Wood, Roman Roof Tiles ...

Can do some more Upper Class expensive zones to a village

Let me know what you think ;)

    Cheers

Will these be tileable horizontally so we don't have to use the posts after each wall piece?

Very good question with the answer being YES
I will give a left to right tileable sheet as well for this Add-On package

The Exteriors Kit will get it's own update
The current Base Texture will get a version added that tiles left to right.
Then a good selection of wooden frames will be generated and exported that have the in between wooden uprights removed so that you can have long non-upright options

That's good to hear. I have not been in a position to use the current package since I need something with higher resolution and quality. I am assuming this will be a separate package. Will there be an upgrade price?

I love the progress on the new textures, BTW!

    Hi,

I have no idea, Unity just released that.
I have included the 2018.2 exported materials with Lightweight Render Pipeline v3.0.0
    Update notes read:
    - Non Official Unit 2018 support Includes VillageExteriorsKit_LW_SRP_3.0.unitypackage to test and use at own risk.

Did you use this from the Update 1.4 or did you just imported an older version of the package ?

Unity keeps changing things. When I did that export the above, all terrains were pink as well.
But none of the package contents.

I would like to invite you to the 3DForge Discord server to get help faster.
The forums does not always send notifications fast :)

    Cheers

It looks like you are using a Hidden Internal shader for your Exteriors pack. You don't do that with any of the other packs (Interior, Fantasy Treasure, or Sewer). For example, in Interior you use the Standard Shader.

No, used the standard Unity Shaders.

I have seen to many publishers burn their fingers using adding their own shaders then end up having HUGE compatibility problems.

Did you use the Update 1.4 or did you just imported an older version of the package ?

When I did the conversion using the built in Unity conversion tools, all the materials were pink after importing the package.
Then I did the conversion, checked that all the settings was right.
The conversion missed out on some of the transparencies, fixed that.
Ten exported the package and gave to Lennart from VS, he tested, so that I have a proper off site test result and they all worked 100%, no more pink. That is what I supplied in the package.
It should also work with The version of Unity that you mentioned unless they changed something that could break that

    Cheers

    Hi,

The package was not submitted with any 2018 version.

Just importing the normal 1.4 as is, will guarantee you pink materials.
You can either do the material conversions yourself via the built in Unity tools in 2018.x
Unity can only successfully import it's own standard shader on materials.
As far as I know, it will/can not successfully import custom shaders.
    Was not made for that.

Where to find the built in tools >

    Edit /
    Render Pipeline /
Upgrade Project Materials to Lightweight Materials

Or you can use the exported and included VillageExteriorsKit_LW_SRP_3.0.unitypackage where I already did this as a bonus.
Delete the materials or rather back them up and then import this provided package.
It should then unpack the ones you just backed up with new already done ones :)
I have included the 2018.2 exported materials with Lightweight Render Pipeline v3.0.0
    Update notes read:
    - Non Official Unit 2018 support Includes VillageExteriorsKit_LW_SRP_3.0.unitypackage to test and use at own risk.

Good Morning and a Merry Christmas to all of you :)

I have been working on the Texture Add-On package for the Village Exteriors Kit keeping n refining it.
I am very happy with the results and wanted to come share some images.
I really like these darker, richer colours :)
The New Green texture also included here and I LOVE IT.
Mixing existing and NEW textures working great.
I wanted to add new contents that is FRESH, yet fits 100% with the existing.
Tell me what you think ;)
Played around by adding some Stone corner parts from the Castles/Base folder
There MANY options there that could make for some interesting results.

WIP for the Royal Quarters Texture Add-On Package

Added a Tileable Roof Tiles texture
You can also see that these texture will tile from left to right by default
What is cool is that looking at the second last screenshot, the building has a slight oriental feel to it

    Hi Cobus
I love the Village Exteriors Kit and really like the new stuff you are showing!

I was wondering, if you're planning other versions of thatched roof. In Scandinavia they are/were typically not divided in several layers, but instead one single layer. Like this: https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fil:Denmark-odense-fynske_landsby-house.jpg

This roof type goes all the way back to Viking times were the houses often had thatched or timber roofs almost down to ground level. Example here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Landa_-_Viking_house_2.JPG

Looking forward to see more of your amazing work.

Those are some nice picks and examples.
At the time when I did the current ones I used the existing method to try get away from having large smooth areas the texture tiling would be more obvious.
Maybe such a method but then also add extra wooden poles onto the outside, to also give it a rougher older look and help break the smooth surfaces. I will have a look at that for sure.
I also like the buildings with roof going down, more a Viking look & feel

To make the thatched roofs look less smooth and tiling, you could consider adding variations of moss layers or similar. That would be quite normal for at thatched roof to have.

Adding extra wooden poles in your kit to subdivide the outside wall sections, would be very much appreciated. I think it would look more realistic for a medieval village house (at least a North European type). It was often necessary then, to subdivided everything into wooden squares (or triangles), in order to be able to support the load of upper floors and the roof. This was due to the fact, that the wall material used, was commonly just dried clay on a wooden grid inside the squares, so not very strong in itself.

Anyway, thanks for a great asset. I consider it one of the best of its class in the Unity store.
