    Hi all,

    upload_2018-8-24_0-50-16.png

I downloaded a 3D kuka model and wanna play around with this in Unity.
But as you can see on the right side, this model consists of many parts. So here is the question :

What is the proper way to import this kind of 3d model in Unity ? Because If I just drag those 3d object files into unity, they are not imported as one robot model, but as seperated multiple 3d objects.
My ultimate goal is to use this robot model like in this youtube link :

You export to OBJ, or FBX from Blender (I forgot, but think was second). Your best bet, to merge sub parts to arm together, and keep links as separate components. Then you can import whole thing at once to Unity. Should get imported automatically in form of tree, when dropping to the scene. Then you just need FK-IK. Bio-IK from asset store for example is smashing and highly performant for multi DoF like robotic manipulator. But is not free, yet not that expensive at all. I used it with Kuka.

How should this happen? I tried to merge them with ctrl + J, but the links do not get separated when it is imported.

Look into fbx format. Does what you need. Works for me. Obj will merge into one object.
