Does anyone know what type of scale would be best to use when creating models in Maya and then importing them into Unity, there might be a simple way... because when ever i create a model and import it into unity 3d its big :) and yeah i can re size it, but id like to create the models the right size/scale.

    - I'm using default FPS Controller

I think the easiest thing to do would be to just do some experiments. Create a 1 meter box in Maya, set your units to Centimeters - export it - and see how big it comes into Unity. Then export the same box but with units set to Meters - and see how big it comes in. You want to use real-world scale if at all possible - e.g. a male character would be about 2 meters tall.

If your objects are coming in consistently at a particular scale - for example you consistently have to scale them down to something like .01 for them to be the right size, then you probably want to change your units in Maya to centimeters. If you have to scale things up, the opposite is probably true.

    Hi Iphychoo,

If your not already, I would strongly suggest using metric in your project settings (centimeter) in Maya since it's the default unit of measure in Unity.

The mesh Scale Factor's default setting in Unity's inspector is set to 0.01 which is 1cm; just like jwilliamsen posted.

    hope this helps

check the FBX export settings...if all is good there, still getting bigger meshes, you can always change the scale factor within unity to .01
