    Hi everyone,

I am new on 3d modeling and game development industry. I want to learn these stuff, but I don't know what to choose between Blender and Cinema4d.

Any help or some reviews on advantages and disadvantages of these two 3d modeling softwares when it comes on working with Unity.

I read some blogs, but I thought that it would be better if I ask directly from Unity forum. Hope you will help me.

They are both great, unique 3d modelling software.
And they are countless others like eg. Maya and Softimage XSI as well.

    Blender is free.
    Good for modelling etc.
    And really really good.
    It's still in development too.
New stuff and plugins are always added, with each new monthly release.

    Cinema 4d
    is another great modelling software.
    Good for modelling etc.
    Really really good!
And one you have to pay for.
It also has great 3d animation capabilities as well.

However when it comes to 3d modelling, it's all up to you and your skills and not the software.

If you are a skilled 3d modeller, you don't really need, tons of plugins.
Or the best paid for 3D program (if there is such a thing. Lol!!)
To make cool stuff in 3D.
Like for eg. humans, monsters etc.

It all comes down to your skills and your mind psychology as well.
Not the 3d software you learn or use.
Since all/most of them, can almost do the same thing.
Or are unique in their own way.

    Either one is good.
It also comes down to personal reference as well.

My suggestion, take your time and learn either one.
    Or both. :D

Thanks for the help sir BrandyStarbrite...

by the way, I'm having a problem on Blender. After I installed Blender and double-click the Desktop icon, command prompt will open(2-3 seconds) then splash screen will appear(just a second) then the Blender will automatically close. Any idea on what the problem is?

I searched articles on how to troubleshoot this problem, but after I followed the tutorials same problem appears on the Blender application.

    Wow!
I haven't heard about that problem, in a very very long time.
"There was a problem, similar to that one you described, during the early Blender 2.6 era."

    If you're on a PC:
    What OS are you using?
Did you run the installer as Administrator?

Sometimes having the Antivirus' guard option "on," while installing Blender,
causes a similar problem to this too.
That's why I always take mine off, just in case.

    Found this:
    User with a similar problem.

Don't know if this would help.

Apparently, he solved the problem by updating. :D

    Thanks sir BrandyStarbrite

LOL :D I also heard that there are same bugs on 2.6 version on other forums...

I'm actually using Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
I tried "Run As Administrator" but same problem appeared

Haven't tried turning off Antivirus, maybe I'll try that one..
And thanks for the link...I will also try that one ;)

Maybe make sure you have all your Windows updates applied as this discussion suggests:
