3D Modeling apllications, what is there?

Hey all. I've used maya in the past for some 3D Modeling, but it's going to be a while before I can get that program due to price conflicts right now. I was just wondering what other applications I could use, and if they come close to maya software that's incredible. If there's nothing out there, I'd really appreciate some advice for where to get customized 3D models. I also have no idea where to get good sound effects or make my own so some advice for that would be amazing as well! Thank you!

 

Blender is to Maya what GIMP is to Photoshop. Not quite the same sheen and polish as the expensive pro app, but feature rich enough that they’re interchangeable for 99% of users. I can’t really think of anything that Maya can do that Blender can’t when it comes to game dev.

 

I've not used it myself but perhaps you could look into Maya LT? It's a cheaper subscription alternative for Maya but you'll have to look if it has everything you need.

Blender is fantastic though and I always preferred it to Maya

For sound effects, check the audio and video section on this forum. There were a few people there, who claimed to make sound effects for free.

And check out zapsplat.com
They made a post 3 years ago, advertising their free sound effects libraries.
