Hello all, we launched a 3D model search engine, which finds 3D models on the Internet with simple keyword search. The models can be previewed right on your browser without any plugins! (Chrome and Firefox recommended).

    Here's the link: http://www.yobi3d.com

Works nice. However are models in search results are free or licensed?

Thanks. The models are all downloadable from the original website. The links are provided at the bottom of the page after you click on the search result.

We received some requests to add filter to the search results. It is now available on the website. On the search result screen, there's a triangle next to the search box. Click on the button, you'll see a list of filter you can choose from, e.g. file type, vertices, polygons count.

Yeah this is awesome, I mean I won't use it as I prefer to make my own models, however, I think this is really great!
I to wonder how this is done and I've been doing PHP and stuff for years, I've never attempted this before.

I think it's a very brilliant idea though!
Makes finding a model very much easier!

Turbosquid is good, but I find your's WAY BETTER!

    It's straight to the point.

Wow. That's pretty impressive. Now... you just need to find a use for it!

Perhaps license it to AI researchers to train robots to recognise 3D objects? For example a robot could scan in an object it sees then look at your database to compare it with other 3D objects. That's probably the future though.

Or another idea is to offer 3D printed models. IDK.

Or another idea is to make a game like scribblenauts which can load in random 3d objects.

Maybe make an API so people can make use of this.

This is cool. How does it know if it is 3d object? Processes images or checks big data directly?

This looks really cool, but the license tool needs work. You have options named "Labeled for reuse" and "Labeled for noncommercial use". So "Labeled for reuse" are OK to use commercially? I feel that needs to be specified.
