    Hi!

I'm an experienced developer but very new to Unity. I've just downloaded the 3D game kit for the purpose of doing the tutorial. However, I can't play the scene. Whenever I press the "Play" button, the camera of starts orbiting around the player clockwise totally out of control. When I move the mouse to the right, it stops orbiting but resumes as soon as I stop moving the mouse.

I've tried troubleshooting it for many hours now. I've tried unpluging everything, mouse, keyboard, graphic tab, etc. to see if it was a stuck key or something like this, to no avail. The installation process went smoothly. I've tried building simple projects (for example the clock) without any problem. It only happens with the default scene provided with the kit.

Before I spend a lot of time developing anything, I'm trying to understand where that bug comes from to avoid repeating it in my own projects. But the most annoying is taht I can't do the tutorials!

Any hints of were this comes from? I've looked through the internernet, I'm not the only one having this issue, but there are no answers….

    Thanks for any help!

Post a link to the code you are using, and we can all post ideas about how to modify the code to get it to do what you want.

My guess is that there is code in the Update function of a script attached to the camera's game object, and that code is causing the movement.

It has something to do with the input-settings. They are somehow all over the place. Some Inputs have the same name, alternates are rly strange, like X axis alternative positive "escape"?! etc. I didn't get the best settings but it helps if you delete the first "CameraX" and "CameraY" and then at the 2nd "CameraX" under "Axis" change it to "3rd axis" and "CameraY" under "Axis" change it to "4th axis".

Problem: Somehow the CameraY reacts to L2... Don't know why. If someone know why this is happening, feel free to enlighten us.

I found the issue.... and it was really stupid! I had a joystick connected that was behind my computer and that I never used and one of the axis was pushed forward... I unpluged it and voilà! In case this helps someone....

Thank you for solving this, just encountered the same thing and lo and behold my controller was plugged in. Was driving me crazy.

On a separate note, i'm working through the tutorial from Udemy. when i use 'kit tools' and click on 'create new scene', which i do and for example i type "level 1" this new level doesnt appear in the project tab. Ive saved and tried again this time "Level 2" and nothing appears. In the tutorial vid you can clearly see it appearing once he has clicked create. Its in the hierachy but not projects. does this matter. Complete noob slowly trying to get to grips with this all during isolation.
