2D Sprite Editor window missing from 2019.2.0f1

Hi,

When trying to open the 2D Sprite Editor (which is installed from the package manager by default), the following error message pops up in version 2019.2.0f1:


The package is downloaded and installed, even tried reinstalling to no avail from the package manager.
Sprite Editor shows up without any issue in 2018.4.5f1, which is an LTS release.

Is this a bug, or intentionally it is not available?

Same problem here, but Windows 10.
In the "All Packages" tab I have 2D Sprite package, but not in the "In Project" tab. I reopened the editor, even closed the Unity processes in Windows Process Manager. Did not help at all.

I- I dont even know how to create the sprite on the map, also im not sure how to make it work in 3d either

This is only happening in Linux, and I'm still having this issue. Come on Unity, it's been 2.5 months.

I started using Unity just a couple of hours ago but I managed to make the 2D sprite package working in my project. I had the same issue "No sprite editor window registered". I'm working on Windows 10.
This is what I did to fix the problem:

Click on Window tab -> Package Manager
Select to view packages In Project and click "add" (the + on the top-left corner) and click on the popup message "Add package from disk".
Go to C:\Program Files\Unity\Hub\Editor\2019.2.13f1\Editor\Data\Resources\PackageManager\BuiltInPackages\
or wherever you installed Unity, and open the file called "package.json".
Wait until the package is loaded in your project and then you're ready to go.

I hope this helps. As I said, I'm new here so I may not know what to do if this doesn't work for you guys.

 

Hello Guys,

I had the same problem. Sprite Editor is part of 2D Sprite module that is not imported in your project by default.

To fix that you need to go to Window > Package Manager > Tap in the filter "In project" and chaged it to "All Packages".

Now you can see all of packages installed with Unity by default and if you want some of this modules you need to import them

Nice one, you forgot to say that in %\BuiltInPackages\ you need to open the "com.unity.2d.sprite" folder which INSIDE has the "package.json" you have to open/import.

Don't know if this will help, but I had this same issue and it didn't matter whether I changed my package manager to all packages or in project i couldn't see the Sprite editor.
what I did that fixed it: I put my package manager setting (next to add package button) to "in project" and closed unity. after reopening unity i then changed that setting back to "all packages", it refreshed and i could now see the 2D sprite package and install it using the little install button at the bottom right.

 

Nice. It works for me. With 2019.4, the menu is slightly different. After Click on Window ->Package Manage, the Package Manager popup appears, select "2D Sprite", then, click Install button at the lower right corner of the popup, the installation begin. Once the Sprite Editor is installed, it opens with the sprite currently selected in the Project window.

 

I also have the same problem, but I am on mac, can you tell me the steps to do on macOS?

 

For those who are still lost, here are some screenshots for mac os and Unity 2020.1

Open package manager window


Inside the package manager window open the "filter" and select Unity Registry


Search for 2D select 2D Sprite then install

1. Open your Package Manager... **Window > Package Manager.**
2. Click on the All Packages dropdown menu.
3. Select "Unity Registry".
4. Select "2D Animation" at the top of the list and apply/install.
