2D Platformer Not Rendering Properly

The 2D Platformer tutorial is not rendering properly in the game view window, some character sprites render correctly but the rest is pixelated or garbage. I have tried the Stealth tutorial which works fine albiet it runs very slow on my machine. Any ideas?
