Hello, I'm hoping to learn if there are any plans to have Light2D eventually support Rendering Layer Masks in the same way that 3D lights now appear to.

The current option is to use Sorting Layers, but the downside is that this strongly couples sprite sort order with lighting. It would be more useful to be able to divorce those 2 concepts and allow sprites on the same sorting layer to be lit differently.

Can anyone comment if this is in the works? If not, is there a workaround I can use to apply different lights to different sprites within the same Sorting Layer? Thanks in advance -

Bump on this? I need to define a global sorting order for my sprites and that requires them all being in the same layer. This makes the lighting features essentially useless for me (and I'm sure many others).

bump, having a bunch of issues related to trying to have 2d light targetting decoupled from sorting order.

Yes, would be very nice to be able to separate Sorting Layers from 2D Lighting.
