Bug 2022.3 LTS massive Shadow performance spikes of 250 ms making the game and editor unusable

    Since the 2022.2 and the 2022.3 LTS I noticed massive FPS drops at random

    It is not scene dependent. In 2022.2 it caused this every time DX12 was turned on. If I clicked the directional light in editor it dropped from 5 ms to 250 or something like that, making you restart unity, but also on playing it triggered. Otherwise normal preformance. This was only on DX12.

    Now on LTS I am on DX11 and noticing that sometimes randomly when playing the shadows go crazy again up to 250 MS, the same way they looked in the profiler on the .2 version on DX12. I have literally the game standing still (not in unity pause however but ingame pause) and a menu open and suddenly this appears. Then after a time it dissapears again, without me doing anything really in the game.

    This might also be on LTS DX12 but im not sure if I have tested that again.

    Is this in a small-ish reproduction project or a really big one?
    Might be worth submitting a bug report for either way if it happens consistently on multiple machines

    This is a big project which we cannot put into a report, ill see if I can find a pattern behind in the next days
    but im pretty sure the responsible people will probably know whats going on / what has changed on shadows recently

    We found same with enabling/disabling URP Render Feature such as SSAO and/or Decal.. each feature drops 50% of FPS, both enabled at same time drop FPS by 75%..

    Version is 2022.3.3f1

    I fixed it kinda, I had two cameras for rendering, one is normal camera, other is for UI..

    I had to create different URP Renderer for the UI Camera and pick relevant Layers/Masks in that new URP Renderer asset and assign it to UI camera.

    Now FPS is almost back to normal and I consider my issue fixed.
