New video card bought back just briefly tested baking is possible to bake with a video card. But yesterday when I was ready to bake again I realized that I can only bake with cpu, I tested several older versions before 2018.1.9f2 and the same thing happened. The 2020 version was tested with no problems, but sorry I can only make mods with the older versions

    sys info:
    CPU: 13600kf
    GPU: 4090
    RAM: 64g
    MBO: asus z690-p
    OC: win10 64bit pro 22H2

Unity 2018 is unfortunately no longer supported, so we won't make any fixes for that version, and bug fixes about bugs specific to the version will be rejected. I may be able to give you some advice if you give me a bit more information:
    - How does the baking failure manifest? Do you see a crash, or some kind of error?
    - Are there any errors in your Editor log file?
    - Does an empty scene with nothing but a static cube also fail to bake?
    - Do you have up to date graphics drivers?

1: Rendering is working fine, the program just prefers cpu rendering over gpu.
2: There are some errors in the logs but they don't seem to be rendering related, so it shouldn't matter.
3: Tried both the latest graphics driver and several previous versions.

Sorry that I may not have described it correctly before. So what is correct is that no matter what the scene is, unity always chooses to render with 90%+ cpu usage and always low gpu usage. But switching to 2020 onwards solved the problem. But usually for mods I had to use 2018 and it was killing me.

I found threads in the forums with the same situation, some said I need to turn off live preview, clear unity cache and delete registry, or maybe it's a setting in the nivdia 3d program, I've tried all of these and still no luck.
I don't know if there is any other way to make the miracle happen.

It seems that the Progressive Lightmapper GPU was added in 2018.3, so you can only choose PLM CPU in 2018.1.
