I heard that 2017 to 2018 breaks all prefabs: Is this true in the current version? Will the LTS support a smoother upgrade? What is best practice to deal with this?

I heard it's just a factor of a prefab kvp change -- would CTRL+H in Notepad++ (they allow find+replace across multiple files) do the trick?

Just looking to see the status of now/later regarding this. Thanks!

    Hi,

This is not true. Prefabs are updated from previous versions of Unity.
There is an issue in the current beta where references are lost in some cases. Often this can be fixed by reimporting the prefab with the missing reference.

A fix for this should be available in beta 5.

Yah for sure an issue with prefabs, but overall good so far.

No issue on my project... super smooth transition. That said if you're going to get the most out of the new prefabs you're probably going to be building htings from the ground up and restructuring a lot of things to be prefab varients. But that's up to what you're looking to get out of the new system.

"I heard this" and "maybe whatever" isn't the same as making a copy of your project and trying it - had no problems here at all.
