When doing nothing more than just building Unity's default scene (cam + directional light) to Xcode, I get an app size of 123,3 MB. Upon exploring the archived package from XCode, I found the following file:
    /dSYMs/myappname.app.dSYM which is 97,4 MB

I read that this file is for debugging purposes. But I did say the build should be for release. How to tell Unity or XCode again to not add this debugging stuff?

The empty scene app is now 25 MB thanks to disabling dSYM for release.
25 MB is still quite large for an empty scene?

Hi, how did you disable dSYM for release?

I don't believe that the dSYM file will be included when the size of the app is calculated for the App Store, so you may be able to leave it enabled if you would like.

This is correct, the dSYM size will not be added to your final app store size, as the user is never sent the dSYM. It is kept on an Apple server, so they can symbolicate crashes from your users for you.

One thing I found quite weird when I do the submission towards itunes connect and get approved, the app store showing my app install size in stead of download size. did anyone experience this before? This make my app size in app store showing 200MB++ and that's a lot for many players and i afraid will stop them from downloading the game.

Are you sure about that? The ipa you send apple is going to grow in size after submission as Apple does some stuff to the ipa (adds their DRM for example). We've found our ipa grows by about 35mb after we submit it. YMMV, if you want to calculate an estimate check out this thread: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/il2cpp-build-size-improvements.322079/
