    Hi all,

Just came across this, the developers of the cancelled MMO Glitch, a 2D Flash sprite game have released 10k+ of their assets for free under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal License. The majority of the content (avatars, locations, items, effects) is provided as flv/swf so you'll need Flash CS5 to open them, though the is a sprite pack of png's containing a wide collection of objects.

    Glitch - Public Domain Art

Trailer for the game so you can get an idea of the style of assets

Might be useful for for a project even if just as placeholder art.

That's a lot of assets. Someone needs to convert it to a unity pack :)

They have also provided it as flat images in the big ZIP file, in case you don't have flash.

That doesn't seem to include the scenery items (which happen to be the ones I am interested in).

Very cool thing indeed. Nice timing as well with the sparked interest in Unity 2d.

There are some pretty nice assets in there, will be great for prototyping.

Thanks for bringing this to everyone's attention noisecrime.

While I never use assets directly even if they are public domain(my cautious nature), these are some high quality assets and they do provide a lot of inspiration on how to design levels and props etc. This is also one of those rare cases, since the source of assets is so clear and unambiguous, one is really tempted to make an exception. This is some high quality work done by professionals and there is much to learn from starting with individual components to the way whole scenes have been created

wow! that's incredible... I feel really sad I didn't discover this game when it was still running, though.

Now I can't stop singing that song
