100 lights

    i have a room that has 100 low level, non-animated, regular 'filament' light bulbs. will 100 point lights, or 100 simple pieces of geometry using a standard shader with emission be more performant in a VR experience? i'm guessing the geo, but want to confirm

    Faking it with materials will absolutely be faster than using real time lights. However if you're planning on using baked lighting it's kind of moot, and baked point lights will generally produce better results than relying purely on emissive surfaces, but neither will be particularly faster than the other. With baked lighting the best option is likely to use both.
