Same thing happened here. I disabled Collaborate in the Services menu, quit Unity and then deleted the 'Library > Collab' directory in the project...

Yes, it would be very useful to have a shader like this that works with skyboxes. AFAIK 2017.2 does not address this.
Shadows are working great. Just use the included 'shadowPlaneMaterial' on any invisible plane you want to cast shadows onto.
