I'm currently creating a list of iphone sites blogs for the sending PR promo codes. I'll post my list later in this thread.
It does not make sense if people always waste their time by searching for something that can be discovered by using google anyway.

I will use alexa to sort this list by it's US traffic ranking.

I would have personally loved to see such a list but I haven't found it. Seems most people does not like to share their lists. If anyone wants to contribute to the list please PM me and I'll check alexa for the links you send me to include them in the ranking. Maybe it would be good for the community if this list could be made sticky when it's finished.

    Edit:

TobyLeon made a Google Document containing all the sites mentioned here plus many many more, sorted by alexa rank, complete with contact information - see also this post: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/48...ites-amp-blogs?p=467779&viewfull=1#post467779

GERMAN list (but no austrian, or swiss sites included)
Not sorted by traffic rank, but already picked out the email addresses from the contact pages!

Some are large sites, others are the web version of print magazines, and there are also a lot of iphone related blogs listed.

IMPORTANT: some of these addresses are not related to the domain name of the blog, so don't get confused when you try to check out what's behind the email address.

A few (1-3) emails not working anymore but I forgot which ones.

Please convert the (a t) and (d o t) with text edit. I had to do this because on most contact pages they were protected, it would be unfair (spam) to post the addresses in another way.

It does not fit into this list but I think it also fits into planning of marketing strategies. Apple's ranking algorythm.

    http://www.readwriteweb.com/start/2010/02/iphone-appstore-ranking-algorithm.php

Maybe this list could be extended to a helpful collection of infos related to marketing? Collecting related links to useful posts in this forum would be already a helping hand. Might be a time saver. All this marketing stuff kills so much time, that will be better spend in making our games better. IMO.

    blogs/review sites

    iphone-daily.de (1050)
    apfelnews.eu (8062)

I have heard of another way how the ranking works and from what I saw during the last 4 days while being featured in germany it seems to be real:

It looks up for sales during the 168 hours:
    last 24 hours: x4
    24-48 hours: x3
    48-76 hours: x2
    76-96 hours: x1
    96-120 hours: x1
    120-144 hours: x1
    144-168 hours: x1
The sum of this divided by 7

I was featured in germany at 20:00 on thursday and got about 90 sales in the 4 hours till 24:00 - since friday I always see a kind of stabilization in the rankings after 20:00 (except on saturday when an important soccer match was on TV)

yes, they dropped at the day of the soccer match compared to the day before and after - but we should move out of this thread to discuss this ;) To keep the thread more clean.

I'm hoping to continue to grow a community-driven marketing approach where developers are able to review and discuss each other's games and Unity work to increase their brand equity.

http://infiniteunity3d.com is currently Alexa ranked 245,248 and encourage peer reviews. We had right under 45,000 pageviews to the main site last month.

We're in the process of reorganizing the site content to make it more findable and hope to help developers and their products get seen by "the right person".

Let me know if there's any way that we can help devs marketing their apps.

Just a piece of advice, for anyone who is planning on paying iPhone Toolbox to do a review, I wouldn't recommend it. I paid the $25, to get my game reviewed on http://iphonetoolbox.com/ but I was quite disappointed with the results. There was no actual review. They just took what I already posted on iTunes, and posted it on their website. A whole bunch of other websites do that for free.

When I asked them to write a review, I submitted additional pictures, a youTube link, and a promotional code for them to actually try my game. None of which they seemed to use. The only thing I got out of it was that my game was posted on the front of their Apps page.

This is probably a crazy question but...

Does anyone know how to find the mailing addresses for some of the iPhone review sites? None of them seem to list mailing addresses on their sites, but I suspect many of them have PO boxes at least for receiving press packs, etc.

Last night, I went through and submitted to most of the sites in these posts. I didn't submit to 10 or so because they didn't seem to fit my app or I couldn't find contact info. (I didn't keep track of the ones I didn't submit to or I would have posted a list.)

One thing I did that was really helpful was to create a 'Letter to Reviewers' page on my site. This allowed me to send rather short emails with only a hook paragraph, promo codes, and a graphic. This was much faster than drafting an email and attaching a pdf or doc.

For the sites with a submission form, I gave them a description and forwarded them to the letter. Pretty much just like in the emails.

For an example, check out my 'Letter to Reviewers' here.

Hey Mani, I created an account on infiniteunity3d.com but I'm not sure what's cool to post. For example, I issued a press release for HyperBowl on prmac.com and gamespress.com (which feeds into gamasutra). Can I post it on infiniteunity3d?

Separate note - http://iphoneapp-promocodes.com/ is a convenient way to distribute promo codes.

I do not have a Iphone Site, but since most of you will hopefully support Android, I want to be listed as well.

When I decided I'll focus on Android for Game development, I realized that I was too early and that there was no site like "Touch Arcade" for Android, so I made one.

My Website is called http://androidpimps.com, we write news and specials and review games. What's special about my site is, that I worked in the gaming industry for the last 10 years and 7 of that in the mobile industry, so I have a lot of insight info. It was also one of the first review pages and every article is availavble in english and german.

At the moment there is no review code system on the Android plattform, so you'll need a trusted site, if you don't want your game leaked. I have a full impressum with adress ( so I'm binded by the law in Germany) and would never ruin my name by leaking software.

My site works pretty much like Touch Arcade, we review what we want and don't take money for it, however we have sponsor banners and you can buy ads.

I have a Unity Pro and Android Pro license myself and will develop games too, however I will never trash someone else's game if they contact me and ask for a review, I would simply not review it, if I don't like it.

Oh and since everyone is ranked by daily visitors, at the moment I have around 500 visitors a day, but don't forget we are talking about Android here and my site is still pretty new, it's steadily doubling every month.

They review iphone games that are fun or have a discount period rather than just things that are newly released. Send them a copy so they can review your game.

Here we go, A full day of work, but it's somewhat complete.

I've made a Google Document containing all the sites mentioned here plus many many more, sorted by alexa rank, complete with contact information

You can copy the contents and paste it into your own google document if you'd like, but you can't modify this version. I'll probably update the list with some more sites today or tomorrow, but I think I've covered it pretty good. If you have a site you'd want me to add to the list, just give a shout. And can the poster of the first post update it with this link maybe? so people don't have to come to this last post to find it?

It's Sorted by Alexa rank which I think is most relevant. If you copy the document though you can sort it by whatever you want

Another hint for promotion. I just found "Direct Mail Pro" and it seems like a powerful tool for newsletters and when sending promotional emails

    http://ethreesoftware.com

This way you can track in realtime if your promo email was opened and if the reviewer clicked on any of your links. We could sort out lazy recipients this way. It can also personalize the emails.

Has someone the list as vcard?

Don`t pay to get reviewed. It is lost money. Use it wiser for other kind of promotion.

Hey does anyone know of Spanish mobile gaming sites? I added Spanish localization to my game in the upcoming release and want to get the word out.

Also I would be careful about paid reviews, or in-kind-reviews. Apple's Review Guidelines explicitly forbids it and says they can cancel your developer account. That's for Mac app store, but I'm sure the same goes for iOS app store.

    Hi!
I have a question: Some of the provided links are e-mail addresses.
As I am new to publishing, I wonder what information I have to give.
Is it necessary to provide promo code for a free game?
Are promo codes only one time usable?
Can someone please make an example of what such an email should look like, I have submitted my game (Paper Plane War) to nearly all review sites, but I cant see it even if I search for it on most sites! What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance!

A new serious german website (made by a professional journalist of a german newspaper), they also have their own iPhone-App for their news reviews.
They will do promo code giveaways when they like your game so just ask them. From what I've heared you will get advertisings for a fair price because they are fairly new on the market.

? no - they need a promo code to review and you can ask them if they want to giveaway some codes to their readers.

This might be interesting - I'll try it and if it "works" I'll report back..

EDIT - will take possibly several days till I'll get a review but it seems to work. No idea what Apple thinks about such a service.

I've opened up th edocument for anyone to alter the contents, so feel free to complement / implement new functionality to it. I've been off iOS development for some time now and can't maintain it anymore, thanks!

Seems the default language was changed so I can't read the menus -_-

But you should be able to view revision history and look at old versions, see who did the massive deletions, etc
